SPACE 44 Every significant cultural movement has a centre. The hippies had Haight and Ashbury. The punks had CBGB. Married people had wineries. We have Space 44. Space 44 had its start in July 2011, and since then has been a forum for artistic expression within the Sutherland Shire It has brought together a young generation that, despite having original and passionate artistic talent, had nowhere to showcase their gifts. From its humble beginnings, Space 44 has established a community of artists, reflecting the lives of those who call the Sutherland Shire home.It serves as a place where up and coming artists can find encouragement, whether their skill lay in the brush, the pen or some noise-producing device. As Space 44 operates as a sponsor funded gallery, there exists the ability to back emerging artists while reaching a large group of local supporters. It also provides the featured artist(s) with the experience of holding a gallery event at no cost, giving them the confidence to pursue their talent in the future. There has been a regeneration of late in the artistic culture of these southern suburbs, with the focus being the idea of a community. Space 44 is not about one story. It is a reflection of the unique individuals who make up our home, and the lives we have chosen. Download Corperate Information Package |
